50 New Year tweet ideas: funny, reflective and for builders

New Year is the one time of year when reflective posts are expected, so honest ones stand out. A year in review with a real mistake in it gets more replies than a list of wins. Resolution jokes land when they are specific: the planner that became a bookmark, the gym card in the drawer.

Todos os tweets desta página são originais, escritos para você postar ou adaptar. Os colchetes marcam as partes a preencher.

Builders and founders get extra mileage from the date. Public goals, yearly numbers and 'what we learned' threads all read naturally in the first week of January. Use the placeholders below with your own figures, and keep the goals small enough that you can report back on them.

Funny one-liners

  1. 01

New year, same me, now with a fresh calendar to ignore.

  2. 02

My resolution is to finally use the gym membership I bought for last year's resolution.

  3. 03

Writing the wrong year on everything until roughly March.

  4. 04

2am on January 1st and I've already broken my resolution to go to bed earlier.

  5. 05

new year's eve plans: in bed by 10, woken up by fireworks at midnight, pretend that was the plan

  6. 06

Every January I buy a planner. Every February it becomes a very expensive bookmark.

  7. 07

Resolution: drink more water. Progress so far: bought a very large bottle.

  8. 08

The midnight countdown is the only time a room full of adults counts backwards from ten together.

  9. 09

New year's resolution: stop making resolutions. Off to a strong start.

  10. 10

January 1st is December 32nd with more guilt.

  11. 11

My only resolution is to answer emails before they turn into follow-up emails.

  12. 12

Already planning which habits I'll start and drop by the 15th.

  13. 13

Happy new year to everyone whose fresh start is mostly a new haircut. Same.

Reflection and resolutions

  1. 14

This year I learned to schedule rest before I need it. Doing that again next year.

  2. 15

Three things I'm keeping from this year: [habit], [person], [lesson]. What are yours?

  3. 16

No big goals this year. One small thing every day, and a check-in at the end of each month.

  4. 17

My one rule for next year: say no faster, so I have room to say yes.

  5. 18

Looking back, the best things this year were the ones I didn't plan. Leaving more room for that.

  6. 19

Year in review: started [thing], quit [thing], learned [thing]. Not bad.

  7. 20

I want to read 12 books next year. One a month. Recommendations welcome.

  8. 21

Resolution I actually kept last year: a walk every morning. Small enough to survive the bad weeks.

  9. 22

If this year was rough, you don't owe anyone a big comeback in January. Start slow.

  10. 23

Writing down what went well this year before I list what to fix. The first list is longer than I expected.

  11. 24

New year goal: post here every week, even when it's not polished. Hold me to it.

  12. 25

What's one thing you're leaving behind this year? I'll go first: checking email in bed.

  13. 26

Happy new year. I hope it's kinder to you than you expect.

For founders and brands

  1. 27

What we shipped at [your product] this year: [feature], [feature], [feature]. Next year: a lot more listening.

  2. 28

Our one goal for next year at [your product]: [goal]. Writing it here so we can't quietly change it.

  3. 29

Year one for [your product]: [number] users, [number] in revenue, one founder who sleeps more than last year.

  4. 30

Biggest mistake I made building [your product] this year: [mistake]. What I'm doing differently: [fix].

  5. 31

Happy new year from [your product]. First update of the year lands on [date]. It's a good one.

  6. 32

To every customer who gave us a chance this year when we were tiny: thank you. We're still small, just less.

  7. 33

Founder resolution: talk to one customer every week. An actual call, no survey.

  8. 34

Last year I built in private. This year I'm building in public, starting with this tweet.

  9. 35

Stopping at [your product] next year: [habit]. Starting: [habit].

  10. 36

We set 5 goals last January. We hit 2. Here's what the other 3 taught us.

  11. 37

Planning next year for [your product] on one page. If it doesn't fit, it isn't a priority.

  12. 38

Ending the year with [number] customers and zero ads. Word of mouth is slow, and it's the kind I trust.

Love this list. Stealing number two.

  3. 41

Same resolution here. Let's check in on February 1st.

  4. 42

Bookmarking this to reread in December.

  5. 43

Most realistic resolution I've seen today.

  6. 44

Huge year for you. Can't wait to see what you build next.

Small goals that survive bad weeks are the ones that stick. Good plan.

Quietly the best new year post on my timeline.

  11. 49

Ok I'm in. Weekly posts all year, starting now.

  12. 50

Cheers to a calmer year for all of us.

Como fazer funcionar

  • Post reflective tweets between December 28th and January 3rd. Midnight itself is crowded and most people are offline.
  • Put one real failure in any year-in-review post. It makes the wins believable and gives people something to reply to.
  • Public goals work best when they are measurable and small. Pin the tweet and quote it with an update at the end of each quarter.
  • Founders: share the real numbers you are comfortable with, or none. Rounded, vague figures read as hiding something.
  • Avoid 'new year, new me' framing for advice to others. Encouragement lands better than a list of what everyone should change.
