50 Valentine's Day tweet ideas: sweet, funny and single

Valentine's Day tweets work when they are small and specific. 'I love my partner' is a sentence; 'he still remembers how I take my coffee' is a post people reply to. The same goes for jokes: the half-price chocolate on the 15th, the 45-minute debate about where to eat.

Every tweet on this page is original, written for you to post or adapt. Square brackets mark the bits to fill in.

A big part of X is single, and plenty of people find the day tiresome, so the posts that do well tend to include them. Brands have a narrow lane here: thanking customers or making a gentle pun works, pretending your product is romantic usually does not. Here are 50 ideas across all of those.

Funny one-liners

  4. 04

  5. 05

love is sharing your fries without being asked. I am not there yet.

How to make it land

  • Post in the morning or at lunch. By evening people are out, and the feed fills with dinner photos.
  • A specific detail about your partner reads warmer than a superlative. Check they are happy to be posted about first.
  • Include single people in your jokes rather than aiming them at single people. Most of your followers are on one side or the other.
  • Brands: a thank-you, a pun or a customer shout-out works. Avoid guilt-driven offers like 'don't let your team feel unloved'.
  • Posting on the 13th or 15th is a fine angle. Early planners and half-price chocolate fans are both big audiences.
